James V. Mecone is an assurance partner and practice leader of the Boston Not-For-Profit Industry Group. He has over 29 years of public accounting experience. Over his career, he has served the not-for-profit industry, including the industry sectors of education, healthcare, human services and the arts. Jim is active in monitoring and advising clients, trade associations, and the business community as to the impact that adopted and proposed governance, accounting and tax changes are having on the not-for-profit industry. |

Thomas A. McLaughlin is a Senior Manager ñ Not-for-Profit Management Consulting. Tom joined Grant Thornton LLP in 2001 following eleven years as Practice Leader for the Nonprofit Management Consulting practice at a large national accounting and consulting firm. Tom has more than 30 years of nonprofit experience as a nonprofit manager, trade association executive, and management consultant. Among his previous positions, Tom served as an executive with two major Massachusetts social service agencies and as Associate Director of the Massachusetts Council of Human Service Providers. Tom also serves on the Board of Directors of the Massachusetts Council of Human Service Providers and has served on the board of directors of the Make-a-Wish Foundation of Greater Boston and Family Service, Inc. |

Douglas S. Brown is Senior Vice President, General Counsel and Secretary of UMass Memorial Health Care, Mr. Brown is responsible for overseeing all of the legal affairs of the system, including the provision of legal counsel and advice to the Boards of Trustees, senior management and the many officers and employees throughout the organization. He has developed particular expertise and interest in the areas of governance and risk assessment. Prior to joining UMass Memorial, Doug spent the previous 9 years in various leadership roles in Massachusetts state government, including as General Counsel, Deputy Commissioner and then Acting Commissioner of the state Medicaid agency; as General Counsel of the Senate Committee on Ways and Means; and as an Assistant Attorney General in the state Attorney Generalís Office. |
