Kiki Mills Executive Director Massachusetts Innovation & Technology Exchange
As the Executive Director of the Massachusetts Innovation & Technology Exchange (MITX), Kiki is responsible for managing the day to day operations of the organization and steering its strategic direction. Kiki has been with the organization since 1999 and has served in a variety of roles over the last seven years. She started as the organization's first Membership Development Manager, helping to double the membership over a two year period. She moved into Business Development and was responsible managing a two person staff and the development of strategic partnerships. Her most recent role prior to becoming Executive Director in 2004, was as the Director of Marketing where she oversaw the rebranding of the organization in 2003-2004 and managed all membership, sales and corporate marketing initiatives.
Kiki's career has been focused primarily in events, marketing and business development, both on a national and international level. Prior to MITX, Kiki was the Director of Marketing & Promotions at a biweekly lifestyle and entertainment publication, The Improper Bostonian Magazine. As the publications' first marketing director, Kiki was responsible for all outreach, branding, sales promotion and event marketing initiatives.
Kiki started her career at the Overseas Private Investment Corporation (OPIC), a quasi-governmental agency to promote U.S. investment in developing countries. Kiki's regional focus was the former Soviet Union and was responsible for leading investment trade missions to introduce U.S. corporations to government officials and potential joint venture partners. She led missions to Ukraine, Russia, Siberia, Poland & the Baltics, and the Russian Far East. She also organized diplomatic roundtable events for visiting Soviet leaders to meet with U.S. business leaders. In her last two years with OPIC, she worked in a business analysis role, serving as a political risk insurance underwriter to insure American foreign investments in oil & gas, power, telecommunications and agricultural industries.
Kiki has both studied and worked abroad in Spain and England. She holds a BA from The American University in Washington, D.C.
Kiki currently resides in the Back Bay in Boston. She serves on the Advisory Committee for the New England Technology Foundation. She enjoys cooking, is an active snowboarder and travels as much as her bank account allows her.
